Questions on Wounds

  • What is GoHeal?

GoHeal is a proprietary topical application ointment that has been clinically proven to heal non healing wounds, chronic diabetic wounds, burns & bedsores. It is made of all natural herbs and plant extracts with Aloe Vera as the main ingredient.

  • Why choose GoHeal?

GoHeal use is simplicity itself.  Clean the wound, sterilize it, apply the GoHeal ointment, and cover.  GoHeal should be applied from the knee to the toes for efficient stimulation of blood flow in the legs.

GoHeal was applied on 300 patient cases where amputation was recommended (amputation of the toes/ foot/ below the knee) and 292 patients were healed of their wounds, Hence preventing amputation.

  • How does GoHeal work?

GoHeal enhances the arterial leg inflow in patients by promoting natural muscular contractions of the legs (calf muscle pump) and this helps in the stimulation of blood flow. The main reason wounds do not heal in diabetic patients is because of the decreased blood flow in the blood vessels and the blood that is contained within the walls of these vessels is non-oxygenated blood. When non-oxygenated blood is trapped in the lower extremity, the tissues are deprived of the nutrients that are needed in promoting natural healing of wounds. However, as the GoHeal ointment has the properties to promote muscular contractions in the calf muscle pump; it helps to propel the blood back into the heart and in turn, provide nutrients and oxygenated blood back into the tissues of the lower leg and foot. The other important mechanism that works within the limb with the GoHeal application is consistent draining off of edema. This excess fluid trapped within the tissues, when drained, reduces swelling and discoloration of the skin and also heals venous dermatitis. When edema is drained off, it promotes efficient stimulation of blood flow, thus providing the required nutrients which accelerate the natural wound healing process with high efficiency.

  • What kind of chronic wounds does GoHeal help heal?

GoHeal heals most chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, arterial wounds, surgical wounds that have dehisced, venous stasis, traumatic injury wounds, burns & bed sores.

  • Are there any side effects or after effects of GoHeal application?

There are no side effects or after effects of Goheal. However, you may notice that there is at times excessive oozing out of water & thick liquid (called Edema/ site drainage). It may appear as though your wound has worsened. Please note that this is one of the good properties of GoHeal by which it promotes the dilation/opening of the capillaries & helps flushing out the impurities & infection from the wound bed. When this water and thick liquid is flushed out, quicker wound healing is achieved.

  • Does GoHeal help stop bleeding from a cut?

Yes. It has the haemostasis effect & stops bleeding within a short period.

  • Do I need to clean the wound before applying GoHeal?

Yes. It is very important to maintain wound hygiene. You may clean the wound with water or normal saline with the help of a gauze. Pat dry the wound bed & then apply GoHeal.

  • Do I need to cover the wound after GoHeal application?

You May or may not cover the wound after GoHeal application. However, if you are going out in the air where the air is polluted, or surrounding with vehicle smoke, then a dressing is advised to avoid bacterial infections on the wound.

  • After applying GoHeal, I have observed swelling around the wound. Is this normal?

Yes. Inflammation is the second stage in wound healing of the 4 stages. So if you have observed inflammation, it is a very healthy sign. The 4 stages in wound healing are:

    1. Hemostasis Phase

    2. Inflammatory Phase

    3. Proliferative Phase

    4. Maturation Phase

  • I have a bee sting and it hurts. Can I use GoHeal to help relieve the pain?

Yes. Most insect bites will heal when GoHeal is applied on the affected area.

  • How soon will my wound heal?

Healing time depends on a variety of factors, such as wound size and location, pressure on the wound from walking or standing, swelling, circulation, blood glucose levels, wound care, and what is being applied to the wound. Healing may occur within weeks or require several months depending on the care given.

  • What is a chronic wound?

If skin is opened by an injury or if there is a blocked artery or a problem with a vein, blood flow to an area is impaired and may cause delays in healing and promote infection. In some patients that condition may become limb or life-threatening.

  • How do I know if I have a chronic, non-healing wound?

If a wound has not improved significantly in four weeks or if it has not completed the healing process in eight weeks, it should be considered a chronic wound and one at risk for prolonged non-healing. Patients who have diabetes, arterial disease or chronic edema of the lower extremities, or a history of collagen vascular disease such as scleroderma or rheumatoid arthritis may apply GoHeal  at the first evidence of a wound.

  • What are the causes of chronic wounds?

Diabetes, immobilization, chronic edema, and blood circulatory problems contribute to the majority of chronic, non-healing wounds. Approximately 30.5 million people with non-healing wounds have diabetes. Another 2 2.5 million patients have pressure ulcers. Each year 2,500,000 new lower extremity ulcers develop in patient with chronic venous insufficiency and stasis. Other chronic wounds are the result of traumatic injury, non-healing surgical incisions, and a variety of other diseases that affect the skin.

  • Is it true that wounds heal better when they are in contact with air/oxygen?

Yes. Wounds heal better when exposed to oxygen as it supports tissue growth.

Questions on Diabetic foot Ulcers

  • What Is a Diabetic Foot Ulcer?

A diabetic foot ulcer is an open sore or wound that occurs in approximately 15 percent of patients with diabetes, and is commonly located on the bottom of the foot. Of those who develop a foot ulcer, six percent will be hospitalized due to infection or other ulcer-related complication.

Diabetes is the leading cause of non-traumatic lower extremity amputations around the world, and approximately 14 to 24 percent of patients with diabetes who develop a foot ulcer have an amputation. Development of a foot ulcer is preventable when one applies GoHeal to feet as a moisturising cream once or twice daily.

  • What Is the Value of Treating a Diabetic Foot Ulcer with GoHeal?

Once an ulcer is noticed, you may start to apply GoHeal at the affected region. Foot ulcers in patients with diabetes should be treated with GoHeal application for several reasons:

    • To reduce the risk of infection and amputation

    • To improve function and quality of life

    • To reduce health care costs

  • How Should a Diabetic Foot Ulcer Be Treated?

The primary goal in the treatment of foot ulcers is to obtain healing as soon as possible. The faster the healing of the wound, the less chance for an infection.

There are several key factors in the appropriate treatment of a diabetic foot ulcer:

    • Prevention of infection by applying GoHeal on the limb from below the knees.

    • Taking the pressure off the area, called “off-loading”

    • Removing dead skin and tissue, called “debridement”

    • Applying GoHeal to the ulcer

    • Managing blood glucose and other health problems

Not all ulcers are infected; however, if your physician diagnoses an infection, a treatment program of antibiotics, wound care, and possibly hospitalization could be necessary.

  • How Can I prevent infection on the wound?

There are several important factors to keep an ulcer from becoming infected:

    • Keep blood glucose levels under tight control

    • Keep the ulcer clean and bandaged

    • Cleanse the wound daily, using a wound dressing or gauze

    • Do not walk barefoot

    • Consistently apply GoHeal on the ulcer

  • How Can a Foot Ulcer Be Prevented with the use of GoHeal?

The best way to treat a diabetic foot ulcer is to prevent its development in the first place. Learning how to check your feet is crucial in noticing a potential problem as early as possible. Inspect your feet every day—especially between the toes and the sole—for cuts, bruises, cracks, blisters, redness, ulcers, and any sign of abnormality. Any cuts or wounds that are discovered no matter how “simple” it may seem to you should be immediately attended to by applying GoHeal ointment on the affected area. Applying GoHeal to the feet once daily (preferable at nights) will help promote skin integrity & reduced the chances of developing non healing wounds.

Questions on Bed Sores

  • My family member is bed-ridden & has developed bed sores. Can I apply GoHeal to heal these bed sores?

Yes. Clean the bed sore well with water or normal saline and apply GoHeal. The bed sore will start to heal. Please note that there should not be pressure on the bed sore for it to heal well. Keep turning the patient sides at repeated intervals to promote blood circulation & to avoid further chances of developing more bed sores.

  • The bed sores have turned blackish. Can I apply GoHeal directly on it?

The blackish color may be dead skin/ tissue. This needs to be cleaned well, removed carefully and GoHeal should be applied on the bed sore.

  • Should I cover the bed sores after GoHeal application with dressing?

Yes, you may cover the bed sore after GoHeal application with a sterile pad or sterile gauze. Please DO NOT use high intensity tapes on the skin of the patient as their skin could get ripped off while removing the tape. Instead, please use micropore low gum tapes as these do not hurt the skin.

  • How often should I apply Goheal in a day?

You may apply thrice, twice or once daily depending on the size and depth of the wound.
